Parker’s state-champion Chess team closed their final week of competition with a bang.
Freshman Isaiah Jakobe, junior Darius Cleaver and senior Shalen Chawla swept the podium at the Chicago Chess Competition Year-End Individual Tournament at Mt. Carmel, finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Later that week, team members competed at the CCC Blitz Tournament at De La Salle, where Jakobe and Cleaver took 1st and 2nd once again, with Chawla finishing 6th and junior Tyler Garibaldi placing 22nd overall.
With so many accolades in the team’s short two-year history, Parker looks forward to a bright future with more victories for these chess players.
