Upper School Mandarin students shared the sights, smells, sounds, flavors and fun of Chinese culture with the community.
The Sheridan Family Cafe was bustling with laughter and learning as Mandarin students welcomed teachers and students to engage in a range of activities geared towards exposing the Parker community to many facets of Chinese culture.
As part of the festivities, students painted Chinese Hànzì characters onto reusable paper, made papercrafts, played pin the nose on the panda/dragon, competed in picking up M&Ms using chopsticks, shared delicious spring rolls and Tangyuan (sweet rice balls), tried their hand at making dumplings and enjoyed a lion dance performed by 7th grade students.
This was teacher Gina Dong’s second year orchestrating a Dumpling Party with her Upper School Mandarin students, and the addition of parent/guardian volunteers helped give everyone a guiding hand, ensuring all those in attendance left with a better appreciation and understanding of Chinese culture.
