Poets Brave Cold to Celebrate Poetry

Parker poets wouldn’t let something like frigid temperatures keep them from gathering to celebrate the joy of poetry! And so, braving the weather, faculty, students and parents/guardians gathered in the Kovler Family Library for a night of poems, popcorn and hot cocoa.

The evening began with a workshop facilitated by English faculty members David Fuder and Alicia Abood, with participants working individually and sharing in small groups based on prompts the teachers provided. Later, more poetry-loving members of the community joined the group for the reading portion of the evening, as various people signed up to share some of their favorite works, penned by themselves or another poet entirely.

The school thanks the English Department for coordinating this occasion and looks forward to the next poetry event, a reading and book signing with the 11th Annual Jeanne Harris Hansell Endowed Poet, Elizabeth Acevedo, on Thursday, April 17.
