Students from India Present Climate Solutions to Upper School Class

Take Action Global, a nonprofit organization focused on climate action for all, connected Upper School Climate Science and Environmental Justice students with Delhi Public School, Lava Nagpur students to discuss climate solutions. Senior Program Strategist Lindsay Zilly joined students in person to discuss Take Action Global’s goals: to educate students and educators about the importance of climate change action. 

Zilly then introduced representatives from Delhi Public School, Lava Nagpur, one of Take Action Global’s Climate Action Schools, via Zoom. They have partnered for three years to explore the causes and effects of climate change, develop solutions and take action as a school community. 

Students shared presentations of their current projects and their Sustainable Development Goals—the global initiative set forth by the United Nations as a blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. 

Their projects focused on minimizing excess microfibers through responsible consumption and production, exposing the dangers of stagnant water and resulting water-borne diseases, and understanding different trees that are water guzzlers can actually harm the environment. The students discussed their process for addressing each topic: They began with research, brainstormed solutions and enacted change by spreading awareness via posters, podcasts and letters to local government officials. Along the way, students connected with other Climate Action Schools across the globe, including places in Colombia, Mexico and Turkiye.
