Senior and Team Dominate the Ice

Since senior Audrey Smith was two years old, she has been skating around rinks and leaned into that love when she began playing ice hockey at age four. She has been pursuing and honing that passion ever since.

Smith began by playing on boys teams but eventually made the switch to Tier I AAA teams. For the last two years, she has played on a girls Tier II AA team called the Glenview Stars, which has won the AHAI (Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois) State Championship for the 2022–23 and 2023–24 seasons, earning them a bid to play teams from across the country at the USA Hockey-Chipotle National Championships.

The Stars went 40-14-12 this year, playing an amazing 66 games all over the Midwest in tournaments at least two weekends a month. Her team finished with a final ranking of 13th in the country, out of 118 teams, for the U19 Tier II level, with a team total of 168 goals. Smith played center this year and was a top scorer, even scoring the game-winning goal in the State Championship game in OT to secure a 2-1 win, which advanced the team to Districts Regionals and eventually the USA National Tournament in East Lansing, Michigan. She had six goals and three assists in the post-season state, central district and USA National 10 games. In the Nationals, her team went 3-0 in their bracket to advance as the number 1 seed to the quarterfinals; they then lost to the Wisconsin Selects, who won the whole tournament and became the number one team in the nation. Smith looks forward to playing her final season in the fall and winter on the U19 team again.

Join us in congratulating Smith on all of her success.
