Exploring Culture and History in Chinatown

By Mandarin teacher Gina Dong
The Upper School Mandarin class and Asian Alliance students went on an enriching field trip to Chicago's vibrant Chinatown.

Led by a knowledgeable guide, they explored iconic landmarks such as the Chinatown Gate, Nine Dragon Wall and Ping Tom Memorial Park, learning about the rich history and culture of the Chinese community. After a delicious dim sum lunch, they browsed local stores for souvenirs, with one student even returning with a new pet turtle!

It was a day filled with discovery and cultural immersion for all.
