Upper School students campaigning for Student Government offices next year appealed to their peers for support as part of Parker’s annual Democrafest.
Each year, Upper School students interested in engaging in participatory democracy through Student Government campaign and compete for four elected cabinet positions and nearly 20 elected positions on various committees and councils. Democrafest provides a time and space for candidates to set up a table and “stump” using their strengths and ideas directly to their peers for a final time.
Beautiful weather heightened the students’ energy, enthusiasm and spirit while campaigning, and the courtyard was alive with the cacophony of democracy as students worked to convince their peers they would be a good fit for the position they desired.
Francis W. Parker School educates students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse democratic society and global community.
