Parker was among 128 chess teams converging on Peoria for the annual state-level competition.
The school’s team won two rounds of competition at the event. Junior Shalen Chawla earned a silver medal by winning six matches for a total of 56 points. Sophomore Darius Cleaver scored 44 points on board two, and freshman Josephine McCloskey scored 42 points on board one.
Congratulations to all the student-athletes who helped the team see so much success in its inaugural year of competition. Parker looks forward to great things in the future from the chess-playing Colonels!
