Upper School vocalists in Advanced Choral Ensemble visited Bradley University to share their talents in the John Davis Choral Festival.
Each year, the John Davis Choral Festival at Bradley University hosts 10 high school choirs from around the state. As part of the festival, each choir watches the other choirs perform and receives feedback from collegiate-level choir directors. The experience aims to be an open session encouraging interaction among the audience and choirs.
Upper School Music teacher Christian Jackson is a friend of Bradley’s director of choirs and couldn’t wait to get Parker’s vocalists involved in the festival. During their visit, students shared a meal and community-building with Bradley students and took in a brief concert by the Bradley Chorale. During the performance, students participated in a vocal technique clinic that featured college teachers demonstrating exercises similar to those Parker students use in rehearsal.
Jackson shared, “Our students have not had this kind of experience. To see what other high school choirs sound like and receive actionable feedback on a song we will feature at our choir concert is an unforgettable experience for us!”
Parker looks forward to hearing the products of this field trip at the upcoming choir concert Tuesday, May 6 at 7 p.m.
