Second grade students showcased all they had learned about Brazil, Ghana and Thailand in a recent culminating event.
Each of the 2nd grade classrooms voted on the country they would investigate as part of this project. They then conducted research on their assigned country using the Kovler Family Library, online resources, classroom visits from community members with connections to these countries and Zoom-based classroom links spanning the globe.
As part of their investigation, students learned much about a wide range of topics within each of these countries and cultures, including arts, holidays and traditions, games, clothing, animals and more. They spent time in music classes learning each country’s traditional music and worked with Quest Food Management Services Food Service Director Chef Zac Maness to explore culinary delights associated with their country.
To provide students with an opportunity to present thei newly acquiredr knowledge to parents/guardians, teachers orchestrated a 2nd Grade Country Studies Sharing Celebration, a musical performance, Chef Zac-baked refreshments and student-made informational boards and materials.
Parker thanks the teachers, students and parents/guardians who helped make this year’s Country Share a success.
