When students had questions about the use of road salt in the city, History Department Chair and teacher Susan Elliott reached out to NPR for an answer.
Elliott’s Civic Lab students wanted to know more about the use of salt during the winter to keep roads safe and its potential environmental impacts. Elliott realized this question was perfect for the reporters at WBEZ’s Curious City series, so she sent it their way and was excited when they produced an episode on the topic.
