Robotics Team Goes to State!

By Coach George Austin
This weekend, Parker hosted the Chicago League FTC Tournament, where the two Parker US teams competed.

Both teams were undefeated in the qualification rounds, finishing first and second out of a field of 23 teams. Then, in the playoff rounds, the alliance formed by Parker’s rookie team, #9410, defeated the alliance that included the team from Latin to eliminate them. Unfortunately, they came up short against the alliance formed by Whitney Young, due to a loss of communication with their robot, and were eliminated just one match away from the final.

However, the alliance formed by Parker's veteran team, #3507, avenged that loss to remain undefeated and win the tournament. Team 3507 also won the Inspire Award, which is given to the best overall team for performance on and off the field. This doubly qualified them to advance to the State Tournament, taking place on Friday, February 28 to Saturday, March 1 in Elgin.
