Winter sports are upon us at Parker, as Boys and Girls Basketball have begun practicing and Girls Basketball will have their first game next Monday against Morgan Park Academy.
But Parker athletics is more than just the teams we sponsor here at the school. Parker is home to some incredible individual athletes who compete in a wide variety of sports. We will be highlighting one of them this week.
Junior Ava Farhat was selected to represent the USA/AAU delegation in karate at the 2024 ISF Gymnasiade, which took place in Bahrain from Monday, October 21 to Thursday, October 31. This prestigious event, organized by the International School Sport Federation and recognized by the International Olympic Committee, brought together thousands of talented student-athletes from around the world to compete in a variety of sports.
The event included 25 sports, such as archery, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, fencing, gymnastics, handball, judo, karate, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis and wrestling.
Farhat brought back two medals for the USA/AAU team: silver in sanbon kumite (individual sparring division) and bronze in team kumite.
Make sure to congratulate Ava on her incredible achievement, and let us know if there are any more individual athletes that you believe deserve a shoutout.
Go Colonels!
