Two Teachers Receive Outstanding Educator Awards

The University of Chicago recently recognized two of Parker’s fabulous faculty for being exceptional in their field and their positive impact as role models.

Students accepted into the University of Chicago class of 2028 could nominate an educator whose guidance helped them along the path toward intellectual growth. Parker is proud to announce that Upper School English teacher Christine Hoffman and Upper School Latin teacher Sean Miranda received the University of Chicago’s Outstanding Educator Award.

This award, which has existed for more than three decades, recognizes exemplary teachers who “shape young minds in meaningful ways—thoughtfully approaching instruction, sharing an infectious love for learning, and caring for students both inside and outside of the classroom.” For Parker, this award is truly special because it comes from the students. According to the University of Chicago, “Each year, newly admitted UChicago students have the opportunity to reflect on their time in school and nominate an educator who played a significant role in their education, made a positive impact in their lives, and whose influence has brought them to where they are today.”
