Francis W. Parker Athletics builds student-athlete character and sportsmanship through teamwork, leadership and spirited competition, empowering them to reach their fullest individual and collective potential, both on and off the fields of play.
We believe in the uplifting power of dedicated athletic engagement, fostering a culture of joy and respect where student-athletes, coaches, parents/guardians, educators and fans can all thrive and compete as one.
As proud representatives of the Parker community, we compete with courage, tenacity and a commitment to our mission.
Consistent with its philosophy of progressive education and social responsibility, Parker recognizes that participation in athletics can teach invaluable lessons in character and citizenship. When conducted in a manner that promotes healthy, positive participation, athletics can instill lifelong values in student-athletes such as discipline, respect, responsibility, fairness and trustworthiness. One critical element that is essential to a positive athletic experience is the active participation of parents and the Parker community. However, such parental and communal participation must also exhibit respect and good sportsmanship for coaches, officials and opponents.
The Athletics Program is committed to a no-cut policy. This philosophical approach provides all student-athletes an opportunity to participate in interscholastic sports regardless of their skill or experience. The program is based on a sports curriculum that becomes progressively more challenging as student-athletes move through each grade. To ensure each student-athlete is getting the appropriate instruction and competition, coaches will consistently evaluate players throughout the season to ensure that these goals are being met. Playing time will be determined by, but not limited to, the following:
Attendance, attitude and effort in practice sessions and competitions
A willingness to learn, work with others and participate with a high level of sportsmanship
Understanding of game-play strategies and the ability to implement them
Skill exhibited during practice and athletic competitions
Based on student interest, we hope to field Upper School teams in the seasons and sports listed below. Please click here to complete a participation survey to help our planning process for the upcoming year.
