Dartmouth Gets a Gem

Parker welcomed the community to the 3rd semiannual Parker Signing Day Ceremony, this year for senior Gemma Franco, who officially committed to continue her field hockey career at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Before leaving for Thanksgiving Recess, Franco’s Upper School peers joined faculty, staff and members of her family at Parker to celebrate this tremendous achievement. Athletics Director Nick Kocsis welcomed everyone and offered his congratulations before turning the mic over to Franco’s advisor, Cynthia Marker, as well as her head coach (and aunt!) Misha Geller.

Those in the room witnessed the moment Franco, joined by parents Luca and Tanya, officially signed her Declaration of Intent to play for Dartmouth before enjoying slices of cake. Kocsis shared, “These are some of the best days of working with student-athletes. Make no mistake, this is about the hard work Gemma has put in to achieve her goals. That said, these are moments we all get to enjoy and be part of. These truly are occasions to celebrate as a community. Congratulations to Gemma, her family, Coach Misha Geller and our entire field hockey program.”

Join Parker in congratulating Franco and wishing her well as she continues her athletic and educational endeavors at Dartmouth next year.
