A mixed group of community members recently joined together to share their voices at the inaugural rehearsal of Parker’s Adult Community Choir.
Music Department Chair Rob Denien combined forces with SK teaching assistant Mara Smith and current parent, music teacher and musical director Chelsea Dolinar-Hikawa ’92 to help focus the talent, energy and enthusiasm of those that reported to Parker’s Chorus Room.
More than 50 current parents/guardians, employees and alumni participated through ice breakers, sheet music review, vocal warmups, singing and copious smiles. Vocalists of all abilities were present; the sweet sounds of music filled the air in the hour and a half the group rehearsed.
Denien and his crew want the Adult Community Choir to be an avenue through which members of the Parker community can come together, get to know one another and empower each individual and others with hope and possibility through music. They hope this first rehearsal represents a meaningful step toward this end and welcome others who would like to take part.
The group will gather again in the Chorus Room on Wednesday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m. Adult vocalists of all abilities are still welcome to join.
Complete this form if you are interested and come join in the music on Wednesday!
