Brothers Kicked Summer Interest Up a Notch

Brothers 8th grader Bradley and 4th grader Alex Cortez-Bzdusek share an interest in karate. Although Parker does not have an official program, they decided to follow their passion and had some tremendous achievements this summer.

First, Bradley had the honor of representing Team USA and competing in the Pan-American Karate Federation Championships in São Paulo, Brazil. Twenty-six countries from North, Central and South America participated with nearly 1,000 of its top athletes. Bradley displayed grit and composure as he faced fierce competitors from Brazil, Bolivia and Peru. He competed in U14 Kumite +55kg and brought home a hard-won bronze medal. Cheering for his teammates and meeting athletes from different countries who share the same passion for karate was a special experience he will cherish forever. Next, Bradley joined the Jr USA National team after competing in kumite this summer in AAU Nationals in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (gold medalist) and WKF Nationals in Lafayette, Louisiana (silver medalist).

However, Bradley wasn’t alone in competing this summer. Alex followed in his footsteps by taking to the mat to showcase the fruits of his own hard work and dedication, competing this summer in AAU Nationals (gold medalist) and WKF Nationals (silver medalist).

Parker is very proud of these two for enjoying something they love and showcasing their bravery and dedication by participating in these tournaments across the world.
