Senior Documentary Chosen as Official Selection at SWIFF

A documentary made by a pair of seniors for their Creating Historical Documentaries class is an official selection for the online Student World Impact Film Festival.

Kai Contractor and Evan Sato originally developed “Remembering Tyler Lumar” as part of their first semester work in the class. This short documentary tells the tragic story of Tyler Lumar, a young Black man who was arrested and detained because of a parking ticket. Lumar’s wholly unnecessary death while in police custody reveals the flaws in our criminal justice system.

Recently, teachers Dan Greenstone and Travis Chandler were notified that “Remembering Tyler Lumar” was an official selection for the Student World Impact Film Festival, which is the largest student film festival in the world. The film will screen online from June 18 through 25 along with films from around the world.
